Burrow & Edwards-Helaire Help LSU Stun Alabama in Tuscaloosa

#2 LSU went to Tuscaloosa to take on a team they had not beaten in 9 tries, Nick Saban’s #3 Alabama Crimson Tide. Shockingly it was Saban’s Tide that made mistakes & Ed Oregeon’s Tigers that capitalized & won the game 46-41.

Bama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa played in his first action since ankle surgery & fumbled on the opening possession. LSU QB Joe Burrow started the game sharp & opened the scoring in this barn burner.

LSU added a field goal to extend the lead to 10-0. Bama’s special teams made a play to get them on the scoreboard.

Joe Burrow threw his 2nd TD of the game on this play that featured some busted coverage from the Bama defense, the extra point was missed.

Bama’s offense finally started to roll & the Tide finished the drive with a Tua to Smith TD. Bama’s kicker then missed the extra point.

LSU got down deep into Bama territory late in the second quarter & Edwards-Helaire capped off the drive with this rushing TD.

Tua was then picked off & the LSU offense again scored a TD, this time with Burrow finding his RB Edwards-Helaire for the score before the half ended.

In the 2nd half Tua started to limp more but actually settled in & made some good throws. The Tide scored on a 95 yard drive that was capped off with this Tua to Harris TD pass.

Bama scored again to cut the LSU lead to 33-27 with this Najee Harris rushing TD.

LSU’s first points of the half came on Edwards-Helaire’s 2nd rushing & 3rd overall TD. LSU went for 2 & did not get it but the lead was 39-27.

Bama drove down the field & faced a 4th down deep in the LSU end. Tua found Jeudy to cut the lead to 39-34.

LSU followed with a championship drive. Joe Burrow led the Tigers into the red zone & Edwards-Helaire ran in his 3rd on the ground & 4th for the game to get the lead to 46-34.

Bama answered with a one play Tua to Smith TD drive to at least give the Tide a shot at an onside kick.

LSU recovered the kick & iced the game with this Edwards-Helaire run for a 1st down.

LSU scored a huge win for their resume for seeding in the College Football Playoff Rankings. Coach O was very emotional with CBS’s Jamie Erdahl after the win.
