Thanks to ESPN’s Chris Fallica, we have this Saturday’s theme for the College Football Slate.
First weekend without a ranked matchup since Week 7 2017- Saturday 10/14/17. What happened that weekend? 7 ranked teams lost, 5 lost as favorites, including 3 as favorites of 16+ points. One of those big favorites which lost – Clemson at Syracuse that Friday night.

Each of the last 5 times there was a weekend without a ranked matchup, at least 2 ranked teams lost to NR teams. 9/25/04 was last weekend without a ranked matchup that every ranked team won. That weekend #1 USC needed a 4th qtr TD to beat Stanford 31-28 as a 22.5 pt favorite.

#1 Clemson travels to Syracuse to take on the Orange, #6 Ohio State heads to Bloomington to face a feisty Indiana squad & among other matchups the #2 Crimson Tide of Alabama journey to South Carolina.
Do I see any of those team losing outright? No, but I also didn’t think that Baker Mayfield’s Oklahoma team would have lost to Iowa State & Clemson wouldn’t lose to Cuse that week that The Bear mentioned in his tweets. However, we must all remember that anything can happen on Fall Saturday’s.
