Aston Villa Manager Dean Smith & Assistant John Terry Pull Coach K’s Move; Visit Liverpool Youngsters’ Dressing Room After Match

Liverpool’s busy fixture list caused Jurgen Klopp to have the youth team play an EFL Cup match against Aston Villa on Tuesday. Klopp & the first team are in Doha for the FIFA Club World Cup. The young Reds lost 5-0 to Villa but showed great signs on the pitch. So much so that the Villa manager & top assistant paid the kids a visit after the match in their dressing room.

Crossover American soccer fans that love college basketball are all too familiar with this move that Dean Smith & John Terry pulled. It seems after every loss or close Duke win against an inferior opponent Coach K strolls into the opposing team’s locker room to congratulate them on either hanging tough or beating his Blue Devils. Most notably this happened when Mercer knocked off the Dukies in the NCAA Tournament’s First Round in 2014.

The crazy thing about this blog was I was about to write this story as satire but instead it actually came true!! I had this idea to compare these two to Coach K & make up that they had went to the Liverpool dressing room after the match but it in fact actually played out that way.

Art imitates life & life imitates art, I guess.
