Washington To Retire “Redskins” Name

The Washington Redskins will be no more. A statement released Monday on the team’s Twitter account declared that the team will retire the Redskins name & logo.

The process for a name changed started officially on July 3rd when the team released a statement about reviewing the name.

Sponsors like FedEx, Nike & Dick’s Sporting Goods were already removing Redskins items from their stores & had also reached out to team owner Dan Snyder about changing the name.

What we don’t know is, what will the new team be called?

I’ve heard Redwolves, Redhawks, which I don’t mind keeping the red in the name but hopefully it’s a name & logo that stands for something the whole fan base & league can stand behind.
