Arsenal Beat Chelsea in FA Cup Final

Saturday’s FA Cup Final featured a London Derby between Chelsea & Arsenal. Chelsea was playing to cap off their Top 4 season with a trophy & if Arsenal lifted the cup they would play Europa League football next season. The game was highlighted by an up & down pace & many decisions from the referee Anthony Taylor.

American Christian Pulisic started the scoring & gave Chelsea a 1-0 lead with this fantastic close control & finish.

The match was then flipped on its head, a ball over the top to Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was troiuble for the Chelsea defense. Blues skipper Cesar Azpilicueta pulled down his counterpart in the box & Auba equalized from the spot.

Pulisic was injured at the start of the 2nd half & Chelsea were not the same.

Aubameyang gave Arsenal the lead with this spectacular individual effort in the box.

Mateo Kovacic was cruelly sent off for a 2nd yellow card & also it appeared that Gunners goalie Emiliano Martinez handled the ball outside of his box but no VAR was initiated. Arsenal ended up holding off a 9-man Chelsea after Pedro was injured and the Blues were out of subs. Auba lifted the first trophy of the Mikel Arteta era at Arsenal & then subsequently broke it.

Scenes for the Gunners & Gooners alike after the match ended. Emiliano Martinez was quite emotional while being interviewed with his captain.

That wraps it up for the domestic English season, Manchester City, Chelsea & Wolves are all still in the European competitions that will resume later this month.
