Earlier today Ezekiel Elliott & the Dallas Cowboys agreed to a 6-year, $90 million extension that makes Zeke a Cowboy for the next 8 years*. For all the haters of this deal, I do understand their concerns. Paying a running back that much & keeping him around past his arguable prime is fair however, this is not just any running back on any team. This is the star RB of the Dallas Cowboys behind a stud offensive line that has Super Bowl aspirations.
The #Cowboys & RB Ezekiel Elliott agree on a 6-year, $90M extension that makes him the highest-paid RB in the NFL, sources tell me and @SlaterNFL. Roughly half guaranteed. In all, it's $103M over 8 years—the 1st Cowboy to eclipse $100M in total value, the richest RB contract.

With Zeke’s holdout over, more attention was turned towards Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon. Gordon is also withholding his services & wants a pay increase the likes of Zeke & the former highest paid running back Todd Gurley of the Rams. Contract negotiations between Gordon & the Chargers have stalled making rumors of Gordon’s move come to the forefront.
The Philadelphia Eagles have shown interest in upgrading their backfield by committee to one that features a Melvin Gordon by reaching out to the Chargers according to Albert Breer.
Did a little digging around on the Melvin Gordon trade market. To give you an idea of where it is, only offer I came across was from Philly.
In that deal, Jordan Howard would go to LA, the teams would swap mid-round picks, and the Chargers would eat salary. LA obviously said no.

Good move by the Chargers declining this trade but don’t be surprised if these two teams possibly come to a deal for Gordon. One of Philly’s holes is that running back by committee right now & Gordon would certainly be the feature & take some pressure off QB Carson Wentz.
*Unless normal NFL business happens & he’s gets cut after year 6 but we’ll see
