2019 FIFA Awards: World’s Best XI, Messi Best Men’s Player, Klopp Wins Best Men’s Coach, Rapinoe Best Women’s Player

The 2019 FIFA Awards were Monday & with big awards on the line the stars of the sport were out.

The FIFA FIFPro World XI was named & there was some controversy for the back 4.

Alisson; Matthijs de Ligt, Marcelo, Sergio Ramos, Virgil van Dijk; Frenkie de Jong, Eden Hazard,
Luka Modric; Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi

No qualms with a lot of these players but Sergio Rams & Marcelo are on there because they play for Real Madrid. Both of those players did not have great seasons for Los Blancos. Liverpool’s fullbacks Trent Alexander-Arnold & Andy Robertson had double digit assists in the Premier League & had their moments in the Champions League.

Messi then took home The Best FIFA Men’s Player honors for the first time in his career. Please note these are only the 4th FIFA Awards so Messi could claim a few more before it’s all done for the little Argentine.

Liverpool’s Alisson Becker was named The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper after his fantastic debut season on the Merseyside.

The Reds continued their winning ways with manager Jurgen Klopp being named The Best FIFA Men’s Coach. The German had an eccentric speech as always.

USWNT star Megan Rapinoe won The Best FIFA Women’s Player for her outstanding Women’s World Cup performance & her manager Jill Ellis was named The Best FIFA Women’s Coach.

It’s really cool to see these stars like Klopp & Rapinoe use their platforms to raise awareness for their causes. The entire soccer world was tuned in or heard the results of these awards & hopefully they heard some of the messages that Klopp & Rapinoe were trying to share.
