Chiefs Win Super Bowl LIV, 49ers Blow 10 Point 4th Quarter Lead

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV. Patrick Mahomes was named the game’s MVP in the victory. The Niners had a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter but Mahomes led the Chiefs to their 3rd comeback win in as many games.

The Niners got on the board first with a Robbie Gould field goal and the Chiefs responded with a Mahomes touchdown run.

Kansas City had a drive stall but Harrison Butker extended the lead with a field goal. Kyle Shanahan had let Jimmy Garoppolo get into rhythm & Jimmy G found his fullback Kyle Juszczyk to give San Francisco the lead back.

The 2nd half begun with another Robbie Gould FG to give the Niners the lead 13-10.

The Niners extended their lead to 10 with Raheem Mostert plowing his way into the endzone. Then the defense picked off Mahomes to halt another KC drive.

However, KC got the ball back & the Mahomes magic begun. Mahomes converted a 3rd and 15 with a big play to Tyreek Hill & then hit Travis Kelce for a touchdown to bring the Chiefs back within a score.

After a San Francisco 3 and out, Kansas City got the ball back. Mahomes hit Damien Williams out of the backfield to take the lead with under 3 minutes to play.

The 49ers turned the ball over on downs & Damien Williams ran around the edge to ice the game.

Andy Reid gets his ring & the future face of the league, Patrick Mahomes might have just started his era ahead of schedule. A great season capped off by a 4th quarter comeback in the Super Bowl.
