Feel Good Story Oakland Tight End Darren Waller Plays Every Snap in Week 1 Win

Hard Knocks star & Raiders tight end Darren Waller played every snap in Oakland’s 24-16 victory over the Denver Broncos on Monday night. Waller had 7 catches on 8 targets good enough for 70 yards. Waller became a fan favorite after his past of being a recovering drug addict was revealed on an episode of this season’s Hard Knocks.

When I saw that clip with John Harbaugh asking if Waller is ok from Baltimore Ravens training camp, I thought how truly scary it was that a player can just slip through the cracks & still be on a team when their personal life is in shambles. Waller’s story is certainly inspiring & a true sign of why second chances are important. After his Week 1 showing, Waller seems to be a focal point & top target for Derek Carr in Jon Gruden’s offense.
