Chiefs Comeback Against Texans in Unbelievable AFC Divisional Round Game

The Kansas City Chiefs rallied from 24-0 down to beat the Houston Texans 51-31 in the AFC Divisional Round on Sunday. Patrick Mahomes & Deshaun Watson put on a show & Special Teams played a major role in KC’s victory.

The game couldn’t have started any better for the Texans. Watson hit Kenny Stills on a busted coverage for a touchdown and on the ensuing Chiefs drive, the Texans blocked a punt & returned it for a touchdown.




The Texans then punted but Tyreek Hill muffed the punt to set Houston up in Kansas City territory. Watson threw his 2nd TD of the game to extend the Texans’ lead to 21-0.




The Texans were driving again but stalled on a 4th & 1 in Chiefs’ end & Bill O’Brien elected to kick a FG. From there it was all Kansas City. Mahomes threw his first of 5 TDs on the day to Damien Williams to get the Chiefs going. On the next Texans possession, Houston faked a punt & failed to convert & set up KC to continue their comeback effort. Mahomes hit Kelce for a TD to bring the deficit to 10.





Kansas City was gifted another possession when the Texans fumbled the next kickoff. Mahomes went back to Kelce to close the Texans lead to 3.




Mahomes found Kelce on a ridiculous scramble for their 3rd connection in the end zone & Mahomes’ 4th TD of the quarter. The Chiefs had not only got back in the game from being down 24-0 in the 2nd quarter but had a 28-24 lead at the half.



At the start of the 3rd quarter, Damien Williams got into the end zone to extend the Chiefs lead but Harrison Butker missed the XP so the the difference was 10. The Chiefs got the ball back again & Williams found his way into the end zone for his 3rd TD.




Watson finally stopped the bleeding with a rushing TD but the Chiefs came right back down the field and scored. Mahomes threw his 5th TD of the game to put the Texans away.





The Chiefs will host the Tennessee Titans next Sunday in the AFC Championship Game.
